When Our Four Regulars Stood on the HYROX Singapore Podium

Han Feng, Zuo Han, and Terence didn't join us to become athletes. They just wanted to move better. But on race day at HYROX Singapore, together with Head Trainer, Yao Xiang, they finished as the 2nd runner-up with a time of 01:01:16.
Here's the thing about training at GRITYARD. You don't always notice the changes happening. One day you struggle through a Hell Fire strength session. The next day, you toss sandbags over a wall at 8 am on a Sunday without feeling exhausted.
That's exactly what happened to these four.
The Training That Actually Prepared Them
We built GRITYARD because we got tired of seeing people struggle through workouts without any clear goal. Our whole philosophy? No fluff, no excuses. Every movement should have a purpose.
Our programming rotates through five pillars: strength, power, agility, core, and endurance. Sound familiar? That aligns closely with the HYROX race breakdown.
Strength days, like Juggernaut classes, built the raw power needed for sled pushes and lunges. Power sessions, such as Reignman, developed the explosive hip drive required for burpee broad jumps. Endurance workouts ensured that running 8 km between stations didn't overwhelm them. Agility and core training kept them stable when fatigue set in.
Each session lasts only 30 to 45 minutes, but that’s intentional. We understand the challenge of balancing careers with serious training. When we were competing, we trained until 10 pm and woke up at 6 am for work. It took a lot of grit to get through, which is why we named our gym GRITYARD.
What the Podium Actually Represents
Standing up there with those HYROX Singapore flags wasn't just about finishing quickly. It was proof that doing things correctly matters more than just working hard.
One of our members put it perfectly: "Here at GRITYARD, I appreciate how they focus on doing things right rather than just earning sweat points." That shows the difference between merely grinding out reps and genuinely building fitness that translates into real performance.
Our coaches don't just shout encouragement. They correct your form, explain why you’re moving a certain way, and ensure you grasp the purpose behind each exercise. When you’re 6 km into a HYROX race and everything hurts, that understanding is important. You trust your technique because you built it correctly.
The Community Factor
HYROX has a team relay category for a good reason. Racing alone is one thing, but racing with people you actually train with is another.
These three didn’t just show up at the same gym. They endured the same Build sessions, the same Athletica workouts, and the same early morning challenges. Our small group format, typically lasting 45 minutes with demonstrations and warm-ups, fosters real relationships instead of just gym acquaintances.
When people search for HYROX training in Singapore or functional fitness for racing, they want to find others who will push them when their lungs are burning. That’s what we strive to build here.
So What Now?
Han Feng, Zuo Han, and Terence aren’t professional athletes. They’re just regular guys who committed to showing up and doing the work with purpose. The podium was a bonus; the real victory was building meaningful fitness.
That's our approach. Move better first. Perform stronger second. Everything else follows.
Time: 01:01:16. Position: 2nd runner-up. Method: Five pillars, intentional training, and a lot of grit.
